Back to news

26/10/2010

As we mentioned yesterday, the Push Burton blog is going to feature contributions from a few different members of the Push team to make sure we’re keeping you up to date with all aspects of the project.

There will be posts from myself, (Matt the Community Manager), development updates from our recently hired developer, Clovis, as well as research & development updates from members of our R&D team at Vitamins.

You can check the first installment from Adrian @ Vitamins below:

Hi.

So the last week and a half has been an insane rush to get hold of as many parts as possible from all around the world! We even had to go and open a Mailbox down the road because we were ordering so much!

We want to get as much standard and open source equipment as possible, so anyone can go out and start playing with some of these bits – and if any of you have any suggestions about some components then give us a shout, we’d love your input!

We’ve been trying to experiment in the short time we’ve got to try and get the best sensors with the best ranges for this project. A big problem at the moment is the cold and the movement – until we go out to Innsbruck in a couple of weeks, we just won’t know how some of these parts react to being smashed around in a glacier – but we’re confident!

We’re also super excited about Clovis coming to London next week! We’ve managed to post him a carbon copy of the system we’re working on here so he can get going in Brazil, and hopefully by the time he lands we can start piecing the bits together.

That’s it for now, we’ll be back soon with more updates on what we’re up to. If you’ve got any questions about anything at all, just leave a comment below and we’ll do our best to get back to you!

Adrian.

So, there you have it, they’re not sure if sensors are going to work in the snow, they’ve already got the Push Burton developer working on the project over in Brazil (where we imagine snow is pretty scarce…) and they’ve ordered so many parts they’ve had to open a special mailbox!
